Blood Tests

Because of limited appointment time we ask where possible if patients can have their blood tests done at one of the venues below. In special circumstances blood tests may be done in the surgery.

Trafford General Hospital Monday to Friday 7.30am-midday (Outpatient Dept. room 59)
Woodsend Clinic Monday 9am-11am
Partington Health Centre Tuesday and Friday 9am-11am
Delamere Centre Thursday 9am-11am
Altrincham General Monday to Friday 12-3.30pm

Keeping Healthy

Our Practice has an extensive Health Care Preventative Medical Service.

Some of these clinics are run by our Practice Nurses and midwives and some by the Doctors.  You may be invited by letter to attend these clinics or if you feel you will need to attend then call to book an appointment.

Dressings clinic                   For wounds and burns call 8640300 for an appointment at the Delamere Centre or 7467283 for an appointment at Woodsend clinic

Minor Ailments Scheme              The pharmacies below offer treatment without a prescription for a variety of problems including: Emergency Contraception and Head Lice for example. If you get free prescriptions then this service is free. If not then you may need to pay the standard prescription charge.

  • The Co-op near Woodsend Roundabout on Moorside Road.

If you need emergency contraception then you should make an appointment at the surgery afterwards to discuss regular contraception.

Continence Problems          Advice and clinic appointments can be accessed on (0161) 8640319.  Please ring between 9am and 11am
Smoking Cessation Services         Please ring 0800 169 0169 or make an appointment with one of the nurses.
Support and activities for elderly people         Age UK Trafford (formerly age concern) are available on 0161 746 3940, via their website or at their office on Station Road, Urmston
Urgent Care Centre at Trafford General Hospital The urgent care centre is open from 8am till 12pm and provides treatment for adults and children who have a need for care that is not life-threatening but where prompt help, care or advice is needed. Please contact Primrose Surgery first as we will always endeavour to help you with your health care need where possible.

Fees for Private Services

Some services that GPs provide are not covered by their NHS contract and therefore incur a fee.  The fee is based on the amount of work involved and also the professional liability the GP takes onboard, for example by signing a form.  The BMA has written more here about fees in General Practice and it gives a list of recommended fees here. This list below is not exhaustive but gives patients an idea of how much each service could cost:
